Favorite Photographs of 2025
This year has been an embarrassment of riches for me, photographically. I’ll try to keep my choices limited. Also, this is not in order of preference.
I have so many great photographs of Courtney Campbell, it is hard to choose favorites. This image was taken on the Big Easy Ferris Wheel in Six Flags New Orleans.
I stepped down as Jason Lanier’s assistant for a weekend and became a student. Courtney was my model for the weekend. I have so many incredible photographs of her from that weekend, but this one was my favorite. Jason’s tutelage really helped step up my lighting. Taken at the Six Flags New Orleans carousel.
Lastly, we have what I think is the best photograph I have ever taken. The natural lighting is just amazing. This looks like a painting. Taken in front of the iconic Zydeco Zing.
This image of model Lynesia C was taken in the French Quarter. This was taken on a photowalk organized by fellow New Orleans photographer Devonte Williford.
This shot of Lynesia is all about framing. The wall, the sidewalk… even the A/C unit pointing down to her. Wonderful.
The other model that I worked the most with this year was Krystal Kadaver. Here I am using her to block the setting sun, creating strong natural lighting with a sunburst.
These images were taken by the Lighthouse on Lake Pontchartain.
Krystal helped me create a series of images based on my book, Lies We Tell Ourselves. We leaned heavily into the use of colored LED lights, specifically the Rotolight Neo 3.
This shot with the gorgeous Kalina Rosa was taken as an experiment. I love playing with contrast in my photography—- I suppose it is the street photographer in me. The light outside was blinding and created a stark shadow. The combination created an interesting image.
I was privileged to be able to shoot my God-daughter’s wedding.
This shot of Jason was taken in the queue of the Zydeco Zing. Great use of leading lines and framing.
Unlike the other people in these photos, Jason isn’t modeling. These are all casual shots taken during our time in Six Flags New Orleans. This one is on my second favorite spot in the park, the Jean Lafitte pirate right.
This photograph was taken at sunset on the day that Korver Demolition took down the Mega Zeph. That is the remains of the legendary wooden rollercoaster.
Another image of demolition. Heartbreaking and beautiful. This was our reality for a year as Korver did their job.
Of all my images from my time in Europe, the ones taken at the Basilica da Estrela are by far my favorites. I went on a whim while my friends took a walking food and wine tour. The think I missed out, but I think they did.
2025 featured a once in 200 year storm. The blizzard of 2025 coated New Orleans in true winter for the first time in my lifetime. The last time I was in snow like this was when I lived in Arizona. This shot was taken at the City Park Fishing Pier.
