Panoramic view of front entrance to Six Flags New Orleans, the theme park destroyed and abandoned in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

These images were taken in Six Flags New Orleans by Adam Buck Santino, the Assistant Archival Photographer for the park. Originally opened as Jazzland in May of 2000. The Six Flags corporation bought the park and reopened in 2003.

In April of 2023, photographer Jason Lanier asked me to be his assistant on a shoot in the ruins of what I have always referred to as The Ghost of Katrina.

The job expanded over time. Jason became the Chief Archival Photographer for E. Ross Studios and the Park. I became the Assistant Archival Photographer on the Jazzland Project. From April of 2023 through April of 2025, we set out to document Jazzland as it stood and its demolition.

What we accomplished was no less than the preservation of an important piece of New Orleans history.
