Why I Won’t Be Bringing My Camera to Walt Disney World

I have a problem. I’m a photographer.

Yeah, I know it seems overly melodramatic, but it can be a problem. I’m constantly looking at the world through a figurative lens, in search of the next amazing shot. Its a thrill when you find that perfect shot. Its infuriating when you miss it.

My instinct is to constantly take photos. And mostly that isn’t a problem.

However it becomes a problem when you don’t put the camera down long enough to experience and enjoy life. I suppose its become something of a universal problem for people with the advent of smart phones. We’re so focused on recording our lives that we’ve become spectators in those lives, rather than active participants.

I’m going to Walt Disney World for 2 days in October.

I’m going to enjoy the experience. Yes, I will take some cell phones photos. (Actually, I’m thinking about taking selfies with my niece at all the countries in World Showcase.) However- I will not be staring at a camera, phone or otherwise the entire trip.

…not the entire trip.
