TOP FIVE RESTAURANTS IN WALT DISNEY WORLD
One of the things I miss most about trips to Disney is the food. Man. I’m so glad those trips required me to walk all day, because I could definitely eat my way across the entire resort. Not just in the Parks. Disney Springs. The hotels. There’s amazing food everywhere you look! And don’t even get me started on Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival.
Anyway, here are my picks for the best eats in Walt Disney World. For this list, I will be sticking to main restaurants that I always try to eat at when I go. No quick service restaurants like the Yak and Yeti in Animal Kingdom. And no chains like Rainforest Cafe.
5. Nine Dragons Restaurant/ EPCOT- Okay, hear me out. If there is one pick on this list that will be controversial, it’s probably Nine Dragons. I get it. It’s just a Chinese restaurant. But it’s a really good one. I’ve never had a bad meal here. Plus, if you can get a seat by the window, you can watch the fireworks from your table.
4. Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant/ DISNEY’S HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS- With Sci-fi, it’s as much about the atmosphere as the food. The food is solid, of course. It’s a Disney restaurant. But the whole concept for the restaurant— an old fashioned drive-in movie theater where you watch old cartoons and movie trailers from the 1950’s— this is a favorite of mine, down to the tables made to look like old Chevy Belair’s. I have a lot of great memories here. Of course, when we talk about atmosphere, you also have to mention the 50’s Prime Time Cafe. It’s probably the better pick of the two, but Sci-Fi is usually easier to get into and I have a lot of fond memories there.
3. Ohana/ DISNEY’S POLYNESIAN RESORT- This is one of the toughest places to get into. I’ve maybe eaten here three times total. But if you can get a reservation, this is the best breakfast in all of Walt Disney World. You can get many of the same breakfast foods at other buffets like Chef Mickeys in the Contemporary or the Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom, but you won’t get that fresh Guava juice or that great Polynesian atmosphere. There is a reason this one is so hard to get into.
2. Via Napoli Ristorante E Pizzeria/ EPCOT- I have eaten a lot of pizza. A lot. My two favorite places I’ve ever been to are CA Sarducci’s Pizzeria in Gulfport, Mississippi and Via Napoli. I don’t even consider it a Disney trip unless I’ve had some pepperoni pizza here. Like all Epcot restaurants, the pizza is manned by actual Italian chef’s serving authentic Italian pizza. And hot damn is it good! Plus, I’ve never had a problem getting in here, even if it’s busy. Unlike my number one pick…
1. Le Cellier Steakhouse/ EPCOT- this is my favorite steakhouse. Situated in Epcot’s Canada Pavillion, Le Cellier is one of the hardest restaurants in all of Disney to get a reservation. There have been plenty of trips when I had to skip it. Sometimes I go to my back up steakhouse, the Yachtsman in Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club. They’re really good too… but it just isn’t the same. Occasionally though, Le Cellier serves mini-filet mignon during the Food and Wine Festival. Of course that’s just giving you a taste of what you really want.
BONUS-
Just about any pop up at Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival- if you’ve never been, the Food and Wine Festival is the best time of year to be in Walt Disney World. In addition to a concert series of famous acts, each Epcot World Pavillion has a pop up food truck serving new, limited edition sampler dishes inspired by each nation. It's absolutely fantastic.
